Last week my friend Hillary asked me if I'd like to have a playdate at a local park for the kids...well, basically for us...but the kids happen to like each other too! Anyway, of course we were excited because normally Hillary doesn't come to Brooklyn, we meet up with her in Manhattan.

So Thursday afternoon, April drove her car over to our apartment and we walked to the park to meet up with Hillary. When we got there, 4 of my other friends were there with their kids and there were balloons and BUTTERCUP BAKERY CUPCAKES! SURPRISE!! A shower for baby Skousen #3! I was truly surprised. I had no idea there was anything in the works at all. It's our third baby and our second girl so a shower isn't always a given.

It was so fun! The kids had a ball playing at the park and stuffing their faces with cupcakes while we ladies chatted and laughed and stuffed OUR faces. Buttercup Bakery makes really great cupcakes...mainly because they have really great frosting and they put a lot on each one...and the cake isn't a bad vehicle to get it into my mouth! :)

The activity for the shower was for each person to write down name suggestions for our little one and a fun memory of one of the other kids. So here they are...

Hillary Ridge wrote:
name suggestion--Avery Lane Skousen
memory--"My favorite memory is when we went to the Children's Museum and went to Artie's and made a huge mess while Jackson and James played with cars. I also love hearing Jackson saying 'little Sissy'...and eating outside on Madison Ave...Burger Heaven!"

April White wrote:
name suggestion--Emmy Jacqueline (April) and Alisa (Rebekah)
memory--"Jackson was chasing Bekah around our house while excitedly yelling and having kid fun. Rebekah was calling after him and he just turned around and planted a big kiss on her lips. Funny kid. Already working it."

Scout Jeppesen wrote:
name suggestion--Kate (because it sounds like Tate--her son)
memory--"I just remember seeing Jackson as a baby and always thinking he was one of the cutest babies I'd ever seen, with his big blue eyes and sucking his thumb. And Sydney is just as cute in a different sweet little sister way, so I can't wait to meet this baby number 3!"

Michelle Remington wrote:
name suggestion--Hailey Mae Skousen
memory--"My favorite memory is when Sydney grabbed the birthday cake and went to town at Jackson's 2nd birthday party."

Valerie Thompson wrote:
name suggestion--"Maggie Jane Skousen"
memory--"I have a fun memory of Jackson coming to nursery with his hair poking straight up. It was so cute because he would just play and was oblivious to his funky hair-do!"
